Villa Anna

Welcome letter

Dear summer guest,

As we welcome you back, we remain committed to providing you with a safe environment to enjoy your holidays to the fullest. It is time you let yourself become our summer guest in an archipelago of philoxenia. Let us be your host. Home away from home, feeling exactly like home. Please find below useful information concerning your accommodation in Villa Anna during summer 2020

We are all of us, unfortunately, asked to adapt to a contactless hospitality concept, deeply contradictory to our principles but so much needed for a safe stay. We have been carefully educated on that and received the “Health First” certificate introducing the official health protocols (mandatory & optional ones) issued by the Greek government that we have to comply with, in order to ensure high standards of hygiene and the less possible spread risk. You can have a first look below and we are always at your disposal for anything more you may possibly need. Alternatively, you can visit the official page of Ministry of Tourism. We would also like to thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation in acting responsibly

Home is where your Wi-Fi connects automatically. WiFi is available in all of our rooms and access is free of charge; you should only need to request your login details. Speaking about details, we will have to keep a record (accommodation file and event book) both of staff members and guests (surname, name, nationality, arrival and departure date, contact details such as address, telephone number, e-mail) so that we can contact you afterwards, in the event of a Covid-19 identified case, complying always with the GDPR guidelines

Happiness is sand between your toes and a sunburn on your nose. To avoid having sand inside your room, our cleaning service used to be offered daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., apart from Sundays. Please note that, due to Covid-19, we have to comply with a non-frequent room cleaning during the guests’ stay -provided upon request- so that we avoid both unnecessary contact and its possible spread. Yet, we would like to keep offering cleaning on a daily service apart from Sundays and clean bed linen and towels twice a week according to our eco-friendly policy, making sure that guests aren’t present inside the room. If you prefer a non-frequent room cleaning, please do let us know in advance (check-in). Feel free to ask us for additional clean bed linen/ towels or cleaning service, if you need. Laundry and ironing service used to be offered upon request: unfortunately not during summer 2020, in order to ensure the implementation of hygiene protocols in the best possible way. We can help you by providing you with info on nearby laundry services on the island and with a steam ironing machine to use in your room. Used fabrics, bedding and towels are placed in a special, closed, marked bag or sack whereas a careful separation (marking) of unclean and clean linen areas is ensured. The washing temperature is minimum at 70 degrees. We have also decided to remove decorative items (such as extra pillows, bed linen, books, etc.) from the rooms and use disposable covers on the TV and A/C controls. You can find hand sanitizers in your room and at the common areas for a free personal use. All surfaces are disinfected on a daily basis, too. The cleaning staff is provided with Personal Protective Equipment (such as single use gloves and face masks, disposable waterproof robes, closed shoes) and we always ensure on the supplies’ adequacy. We make sure that the rooms are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, as well as their natural ventilation is the proper one during your stay. Special attention is given to objects/ surfaces of high risk whereas both keys/ key cards and luggage are disinfected. In case of illness, the staff is asked to stay at home and seek medical attention if they experience symptoms related to the disease, notifying the health care provider of the accommodation. A person with symptoms should be excluded from work and return if the laboratory tests results are negative

Green initiative. Meeting your need is our priority. Achieving that and serving our environment is a distinction which we all take great pride in. Thus, if you feel that changing bed linen or towels is unnecessary, please place the card on your bed in the morning or hang your towels on the rack. If not, leave them in the bath washbasin. You make the choice. You make the difference

If you think that you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito in the room. Thus, we offer you Korres mosquito repellents on the common grounds. In addition to this, all of our rooms are equipped with mosquito screens in order to avoid any insects’ inconvenience

Sleeping well benefits the soul and rewards the body. Are you sleeping better on nature by cicadas’ lullabies? Just hang Do not disturb on the door and we will let you enjoy our comfy beds a bit more

Open the windows and breathe the salty air. In case you need some fresh cool air inside the room, make sure you firmly close both sliding doors and windows, otherwise air-conditioning remains off. The air-condition’s remote control should always display a snow flake and a temperature between 18 – 25 C during the summertime. Allow 5 minutes for its full operation and let us help you in case of any inconvenience. Beware of the timer! Due to Covid-19, we have to comply with the air’s non-recirculation inside the rooms and with the rooms’ adequate natural ventilation. Thus, the air conditioning system will remain on even when the doors are open (specifically for the main entrance and the bathroom’s and kitchen’s window so that the air circulates in the room, if you would also like)

Live in the sunshine. Swim the sea. Drink the wild air. But please don’t drink the tap water; a cool bottled water is offered to you during your arrival welcome. Water is life

Water is precious. Due to the island’s low water reserves, especially during the high summer season, the Municipality of Skiathos calls residents and visitors to avoid excessive and unnecessary use of the water. Thank you for your understanding and help

Chase the sun and the sun will chase you back. Kissed by the sun, you could enjoy our comfy beds even more but we would be pleased if you avoided lying on them while still having your sunscreen protection on. Sunscreens may be water resistant but, unfortunately, our bed linen and towels can’t resist to them!

I found me under an umbrella by the sea. Let us find you the umbrella. Every room is equipped with a beach umbrella to take with you whereas beach towels are upon request due to a limited number

Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day. Just in case of a rainy day during your stay, every room is equipped with a rain umbrella, too

Between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be. Full of summer memories. Pick up -or leave- yours and read it by the sea. Just take care of the sand between the pages…Sometimes, summer memories are also sandy! We are sorry but due to Covid-19, we have decided to remove books and other items of common use from the rooms and the common grounds

Do you keep alive the child inside you? Or next to you? Then, a toy box full of board games, puzzles, sketchbooks, coloring books, markers, color pencils and fairy tales is waiting for you -or our little guests- to enjoy. We are sorry but due to Covid-19, we have decided to remove books and other items of common use from the rooms and the common grounds

A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles. But miles don’t separate our rooms. Hence, in order to become friends with the guests next to you, please stay discreet and quiet and we will be here to reassure and protect all of our guests’ peace and relaxation during their stay

Please do not throw paper towels or sanitary items in the toilet. We kindly ask you to use the bin provided in the bathroom

Hospitality embodies the caring, kindness and thoughtfulness a host should show towards their guests. This is why, when staying at Villa Anna, all lights are on you. Please don’t do the same with your room lighting; simply check before leaving or going for your easy sleep. Sleep tight

Take some green action and help us reduce, reuse, recycle any plastic, glass or paper. You could find recycling bins in your room, under the sink, or next to the open library at the front yard. Thank you for your participation in the initiatives that better serve the environment

Congratulations for quitting smoking; at least inside our rooms. Smoking is not permitted inside the rooms but you can smoke in the balconies and on the outside premises, if you would like to

Food feeds the soul. To the extent that we all eat food, and we all have souls, food is the single great unifier across cultures. But what would feed your island soul? Feel free to ask for our recommendations and we would be happy to help you with your reservations

Has your departure date arrived? We strongly understand that you would love to stay a bit more but please have in mind that check-out time is between 07.00 – 11.00 hours and check-in between 15.00 – 22.00 hours. We will be delighted to welcome you back again! Please ask us for a late check-out, always upon availability. During 2020, check-in is rescheduled from 15:00 and on whereas check-out is latest at 11.00 a.m., completed outdoors. This alteration is mandatory in order to ensure that the room is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, as well as its natural ventilation is adequate for next guests’ safe stay. In case we manage to do so -since reservations have been made before the Covid-19 spread, too-, the room will stay free on a 24 hours basis. If not, the room will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. We will be at your disposal any time during the day (08.00-20.00 hours; before or after, upon request). Please note that it is prohibited to accept non-residents in the rooms. We have been always trying to facilitate you during your arrival/departure unless there was a strong need to welcome you at Villa Anna, usually due to guests’ simultaneous arrivals. As a result of the Covid-19, we have temporarily suspended our free of charge private vehicle services during summer 2020

Your receipt will be issued on your departure day. Please let us know in advance if you would need an invoice. We are at your disposal for any further queries you may possibly have about your payment or about the additional “Overnight Stay Tax” (0.5 euros per night, per room) that has been applied since 1.1.2018

In the event of a suspect case, a medical kit specially equipped with single use gloves and disposable face masks, antiseptics, sanitizing wipes, disposable long sleeve robe, infrared thermometer is available.

In case a guest has symptoms of a Covid-19 infection, the following action plan for suspected Covid-19 cases applies:

  • The coordinator of the action plan (Mrs Ioanna Pothou) immediately contacts ΕΟΔΥ (National Organization for Public Health) at +302105212054 or the special four-digit number 1135 so that the incident gets properly evaluated by a doctor
  • If the patient is in an urgent need of hospitalization because of a severe clinical picture, he/she is referred to the relevant health unit, as a suspected Covid-19 case. If the Health Center/ health infrastructure of the island is unable to handle the suspected case, there must be a provision for transporting the patient (EKAB, floating ambulance, air transport) to the nearest responsible health unit
  • If the patient presents a mild clinical picture, the doctor gets a sample for a Covid-19 test and the patient self-isolates in the room until the test results whereas the coordinator of the action plan (Mrs Ioanna Pothou) immediately contacts ΕΟΔΥ (National Organization for Public Health) to declare the suspected case and follow the instructions given accordingly
  • During the above waiting hours, the staff’s entry into the patient’s room is avoided, if there is no significant reason. If necessary, a staff member of the accommodation is advised to deal exclusively with the suspected case
  • Both the doctor and the accommodation staff entering the room of the suspected -or confirmed at a later point- case must use high-protection personal protective equipment (such as single use gloves and face masks, disposable waterproof robes, special glasses)
  • If the patient is confirmed as a Covid-19 case, he/she is transferred to the island’s special quarantine hotel and later to the health unit accommodating Covid-19 patients, provided they need special treatment. If he/she is not confirmed as a Covid-19 case, he/she is treated at the accommodation place following the doctor’s instructions
  • If there is a patient’s companion wishing to stay close to him/her to take care of him/her, he/she should be given a simple surgical mask and advised to regularly wash his/her hands every time he/she comes in contact with the patient’s secretions. The contact details of the patient’s relative should be always recorded, in case a consent form is required provided that the patient cannot communicate
  • Used protective equipment (such as single use gloves and face masks, disposable robes) should be discarded in a bin and never used again whereas hands should be thoroughly washed with soap and water
