About Health and Hygiene Protocols
Will you be qualified for implementing Covid-19’s special health protocols?
Yes, of course. It is mandatory both for the manager and the cleaning staff to be educated on that so that Villa Anna receives the certificate “Health First” by the Ministry of Tourism by 5/7/2020. We will also have to keep a record (accommodation file and event book) both of staff members and guests (surname, name, nationality, arrival and departure date, contact details such as address, telephone number, e-mail) so that we can contact you afterwards, in the event of a Covid-19 identified case, complying always with the GDPR guidelines
What is the training related to?
The training is at least related to the following: the ways of which the virus is transmitted | Informing procedures of hotel officials and customers | Behavior and actions needed to be taken in case of illness by the staff | Methods and practices of cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces leading to the possibility of transmitting the disease | Communication approaches to visitors/customers | Maintaining the basic protocols to avoid transmitting the virus by thorough and regular hand washing, avoiding handshakes, keeping distances, avoiding contact of hands on the eyes, nose and mouth and covering coughs and sneezes appropriately | Maintaining training files and documenting recruitment for each employee. Each staff member must strictly adhere to the basic protection measures against Covid-19: following hand hygiene, physical distancing by customers and other staff, in all workspaces, hotel areas and avoiding to touch the face and keeping a good personal hygiene (covering mouth while coughing and sneezing, frequent hand washing, etc.) Moreover, an affidavit from all staff members which states that the individual has been informed of the health and management protocols for Covid-19, relating to their competence. Training plan (e-learning on smartphone or tablet) until July 15 of one person per service (individual protocol) of the accommodation, which will then take over the training of the rest of the staff
Which are the health protocols for the prevention and control of Covid-19 that you follow?
We are all, unfortunately, asked to adapt to a contactless hospitality concept, deeply contradictory to our principles but so much needed for a safe stay. We have been carefully working on that introducing the official hygiene protocols (mandatory & optional) issued by the Greek government that we have to comply with in order to ensure high standards of hygiene and the less possible spread risk. You can have a first look below and we will keep adding/ updating info on that. Alternatively, you can visit the official page of Ministry of Tourism, here
Which are the hygiene protocols that specifically the cleaning staff follows?
Precautionarily, we are all thermometered before meeting our guests every morning, as part of their individual responsibility. The cleaning staff is provided with Personal Protective Equipment (such as single use gloves and face masks, disposable waterproof robes, closed shoes) and we always ensure on the supplies’ adequacy. We make sure that the rooms are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, as well as their natural ventilation is the proper one during your stay. Special attention is given to objects/ surfaces of high risk whereas both keys/ key cards are disinfected. In case of illness, the staff is asked to stay at home and seek medical attention if they experience symptoms related to the disease, notifying the health care provider of the accommodation. A person with symptoms should be excluded from work and return to work if the laboratory tests results are negative
Can you still pick me up from the port/airport?
We have been always trying to facilitate you during your arrival/departure unless there was a strong need to welcome you at Villa Anna, usually due to guests’ simultaneous arrivals. As a result of the Covid-19, we have temporarily suspended our free of charge shuttle services during summer 2020 but you will continue to receive an e-mail with informative maps attached so as to easily access Villa Anna when arriving, a few days before traveling to Skiathos
Is there any difference about the check-in and the check-out hours?
Check-in time used to be between 14:00-22:00 hours and check-out between 08:00-12.00 hours. During 2020-2021, check-in is rescheduled from 15:00 and on whereas check-out is latest at 11.00 a.m., completed outdoors. This alteration is mandatory in order to ensure that the room is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, as well as its natural ventilation is adequate for next guests’ safe stay. In case we manage to do so -since reservations have been made before the Covid-19 spread, too-, the room will stay free on a 24 hours basis. If not, the room will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. We will be at your disposal any time during the day (08.00-20.00 hours; before or after, upon request). Please note that it is prohibited to accept non-residents in the rooms
Do you offer hand sanitizers?
Yes, of course. You can find them both in the common areas and in your rooms for a free personal use
Do you still offer bed linen and towels?
Yes, of course. Meeting your needs is our priority. Achieving that and serving our environment is a distinction which we all take great pride in. Cleaning is on a daily basis apart from Sundays. We change bed linen and towels twice a week according to our eco-friendly policy. Feel free to ask us for additional clean bed linen/ towels or cleaning service, if you need. If you feel that changing bed linen or towels is unnecessary, place the eco-card on your bed in the morning or hang your towels in the rack. If not, leave them on the floor. You make the choice. You make the difference. Thank you for your participation in the initiatives that better serve the environment. Please note that, due to Covid-19, we have to comply with a non-frequent room cleaning during the guests’ stay -provided upon request- so that we avoid unnecessary contact and its possible spread. Used fabrics, bedding and towels are placed in a special, closed, marked bag or sack whereas a careful separation (marking) of unclean and clean linen areas is ensured. The washing temperature is minimum at 70 degrees. We have also decided to remove decorative items (such as extra pillows, bed linen, books, etc.) from the rooms and use disposable covers on the TV and A/C controls
Do you still offer A/C?
Yes of course, air conditioning is offered in all of our rooms and it is free of charge. Due to Covid-19, we have to comply with the air’s non-recirculation inside the rooms and with the rooms’ adequate natural ventilation. Thus, the air conditioning system will remain on even when the doors are open (specifically for the main entrance and the bathroom’s window so that the air circulates in the room, if you would also like). Please simply check before leaving the room that it will be off when are away. Meeting your safety needs is our priority. Achieving that and serving our environment is a distinction which we all take great pride in. We have also decided to have a single use cover for the A/Cs’ and TVs’ remote controls in every check-in

Development of an action plan by the administration / management of the tourist accommodation and individual protocols for each department of the accommodation and most importantly for the case of crisis (handling of a possible case). The development of the action plan concerns hotels with a capacity of more than 50 rooms.course there is a special one, specifically for the handling of a suspected case following the plan for dealing with a suspected case from ΕΟΔΥ – National Organization for Public Health
Is there an action plan for suspected cases Villa Anna follows?
Yes, of course there is a special one, specifically for the handling of a suspected case following the plan for dealing with a suspected case from ΕΟΔΥ – National Organization for Public Health. The development of a plan for the handling of a suspicious case concerns all accommodations (according to the current instructions of ΕΟΔΥ – National Organization for Public Health). To ensure the implementation of the accommodation’s suspected case handling plan is followed, it is necessary that a manager is appointed specifically for this. Due to Villa Anna’s scale, the coordinator is the owner of the business. In the occurrence that the accommodation has created an action plan (accommodation over 50 rooms), the coordinator of the action plan and the manager in charge of implementing the action plan, may be the same individual. The accommodations are obligated to share contact details to the according services of the Ministry of Health/ΕΟΔΥ (National Organization for Public Health): Manager in charge of implementing the action plan for suspected cases | Collaborating doctor or the care provider of secondary health care
What is the action plan for suspected Covid-19 cases?
In case a guest has symptoms of a Covid-19 infection, the following applies:
- The coordinator of the action plan (Mrs Ioanna Pothou) immediately contacts ΕΟΔΥ (National Organization for Public Health) at +302105212054 or the special four-digit number 1135 so that the incident gets evaluated by a doctor
- If the patient is in an urgent need of hospitalization because of a severe clinical picture, he/she is referred to the relevant health unit, as a suspected case of Covid-19. If the Health Center/ health infrastructure of the island is unable to handle the suspected case, there must be a provision for transporting the patient (EKAB, floating ambulance, air transport) to the nearest responsible health unit
- If the patient presents a mild clinical picture, the doctor gets a sample for a Covid-19 test and the patient self-isolates in the room until the test results whereas the coordinator of the action plan (Mrs Ioanna Pothou) immediately contacts ΕΟΔΥ (National Organization for Public Health) to declare the suspected case and follow the instructions accordingly
- During the above waiting hours, the staff’s entry into the patient’s room is avoided, if there is no significant reason. If necessary, a staff member of the accommodation is advised to deal exclusively with the suspected case
- Both the doctor and the accommodation staff entering the room of the suspected -or confirmed at a later point- case must use high-protection personal protective equipment (face masks, gloves, special glasses, waterproof disposable robes)
- If the patient is confirmed as a Covid-19 case, he/she is transferred to the island’s special quarantine hotel and later to the health unit accommodating Covid-19 patients, provided they need special treatment. If he/she is not confirmed as a Covid-19 case, he/she is treated at the accommodation following the doctor’s instructions
- If there is a patient’s companion wishing to stay close to him/her to take care of him/her, he/she should be given a simple surgical mask and advised to regularly wash his/her hands every time he/she comes in contact with the patient’s secretions of the patient. The contact details of the patient’s relative should be always recorded, in case a consent form is required provided that the patient cannot communicate
- Used protective equipment (disposable surgical masks, gloves, etc.) should be discarded in a bin and never used again whereas hands should be thoroughly washed with soap and water
